STRANGE HOUSES – CONCEPTUALITY ON THE FACE OF FANTASY

In 2020, conceptual architecture reached the boundary between fiction and reality. Due to the ability to cast from the monolith almost any form without sacrificing strength and stability of the structure, it was possible to realize meandering, almost unreal for a residential building. Swings and smooth lines in the living space in harmony with minimalism and hi-tech create the effect of the house of the future.

The cottage uses curved walls, swings and smooth transitions of ceiling height. At the same time, architects managed to maintain building standards so that housing was absolutely safe. Basically, the project of an unusual house presented involves the play of space and form. Elements of overhanging floors seem to contradict the laws of physics.

UNUSUAL HOMES – MULTI-LEVEL ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR

The traditional steps were replaced by smooth transitions between the floors of the house, and the upper levels are larger than the lower ones and extend beyond the perimeter of the foundation by several meters. Due to this, they simultaneously act as a roof on the house terrace near the pool.

The internal space has no clear boundaries – rooms, corridors seem to flow into each other, creating a comfortable, spacious and ergonomic living space. A mandatory attribute of modern suburban housing was panoramic glazing. In this project of an unusual house, it is also provided, providing openness of social zones, familiarization with the natural environment and excellent daylight.

All interior and exterior is made, one-light color. To revitalize the space, make it dynamic, contrasting accents are added with the help of dark furniture, unique design lighting, and decoration.

In such a non-standard house, an exclusive design environment is provided, with the help of which it was possible to delimit the space into functional zones, making each of them convenient and practical for certain tasks.

UNUSUAL HOUSES AROUND THE WORLD – ORGANICITY AND IMPRESSIVE FORM

The design of an unusual house involves the use of curved, winding lines that blend harmoniously with the local natural landscape. With its futurism, the villa does not stand out from the general composition surrounded by pine forest, but flows into it with an emphasis on the naturalness of forms.

an unusual home

Modern projects of unusual country houses are, first of all, a conceptual design, but at the same time aesthetics and harmony with wildlife. This property does not spoil or urbanize the situation, but becomes an accent point of landscape design, the main advantage of which is its belonging to wildlife and environmental friendliness. This unusual combination of naturalness and futurism has become one of the main impressive features of new homes.

UNIQUE HOUSES AROUND THE WORLD – CUTTING-EDGE STYLE MIXED WITH AFRICAN THEMES

How to combine modern European style and aesthetics of living African nature in the interior of unusual cottages – an example with photos and descriptions.

Unusual Cottages

The architectural bureau SAOTA and the ARRCC studio presented a unique home ownership project on the shores of Lake Geneva. Unusual cottages are adapted for a triangular site, inconvenient for construction, but this place was chosen due to exceptional species characteristics – a view of picturesque Swiss landscapes opens from the house. The facility consists of a family home and office.

In architecture, the aesthetics of natural forms can be traced, reflected in materials, textures, configurations.

Unusual Cottages

Structurally, the house corresponds to modern Swiss architecture – extraordinary forms, a lot of glass, the high cost and reliability of each element. But the design is made to match the aesthetics of African nature – decoration and furniture made of precious wood, stone, leather, a natural palette of colors, decor elements and furnishings corresponding to the subject. On the floors, walls used marble, granite – this emphasizes the European chic at home.

Unusual Cottages

Designers managed to make unusual cottages stylized as wildlife in a modern interpretation – high-tech, minimalism in harmony with the aesthetics of the nature of the African continent. The conceptual solution turned out to be quite spectacular – the interior is not like any other, it has a peaceful atmosphere, functionality and European comfort.

Unusual Cottages

Unusual cottages have a unique configuration. There is no clear delineation of zones, the correct form of rooms and premises. The building was defeated under the atypical shape of the site, achieving maximum ergonomics, spaciousness and rationality. Social space is maximally open and zoned only due to visual delimitation. High ceilings, a second light, a lot of glass and thoughtful lighting further increase the space, fill it with lightness and freedom.

Unusual Cottages

The living room is divided into formal and informal zones – near the fireplace of a special modern form. Furniture is selected for a non-standard configuration of the premises. Social areas include a living room on two floors and a kitchen with dining room. On the second floor of the house there are private spaces and bathrooms, bathrooms.

Unusual Cottages

In the atmosphere, several styles can be traced at once – fusion, minimalism, eco. Effectiveness adds contrasting accents. In a light environment, the main functional elements are highlighted in a dark tone. The main design of the living room in bright colors was a black fireplace in the middle of the room. It is stylized as a regular bonfire – also a response from the African trend in interior design.

Unusual Cottages

The practicality of the open space is achieved through cabinet furniture, the configuration and location of which can always be changed. House territory is closely connected with the internal space, forming a single object of an unusual shape on a triangular site.

Unusual Cottages

Unusual cottages from SAOTA bureau and ARRCC studio became a symbiosis of modern European culture and traditional African nature. This can be traced from the construction of the building to the decor – organic forms, ceramics inherent to the tribes of the hot continent, harmoniously combine with elements of art by European artists, chic and Swiss-inspired functionality.

ACME Architectural Bureau introduced conceptual unusual residential buildings in the form of towers with a conical top. An object with modern aesthetics stands out clearly against the backdrop of wildlife. Architects came to an original decision – to sheathe the facades of buildings with tiles stylized as tiles.

Due to the modern implementation of the project, this traditional material was interpreted under the current realities, fashion and architectural trends.

The phrase “within four walls” does not exactly refer to this project. All the main rooms of the house are round. This made it possible to realize non-standard ideas – for example, rounded stairs. To further emphasize the smoothness of forms without corners, the passages between the rooms were made arched.

Almost all furniture is also characterized by smooth lines, bends and streamline. The contrast in the context of the forms was made with the help of windows, which received a traditional rectangular design.

To maximize the rational use of the round space, partly used rounded designer furniture. Countertops are also made in a rounded shape. The selected trend without corners can also be seen in details – lamps in the form of balls, round ottomans.

The house consists of four towers, united by a common structure between them. Each of the towers provides private living spaces – bedrooms, cabinets, children’s and guest rooms. One of them also has a kitchen. All of them converge to a single central structure, in which the main social space is located – the living room. From here, exits to the upper levels are made.

The competent arrangement of unusual residential buildings in the form of towers made it possible to make a smooth transition from social to private space. It seems that the bedrooms are located in different buildings. Due to the original configuration of the house from each private room, it turned out to make a review at once in several directions. The windows on the upper floors are located at an angle to the sky – this affects the species characteristics and high-quality insolation in the rooms.

The peculiarity of the bedrooms is that each of them occupies two levels at once. This made it possible to create a separate space for more active pastime and a relaxing holiday. For example, in the nursery, the lower level is reserved for the play area, and the upper one is for the place to sleep. In the owners’ bedroom, the lower zone is more suitable for hanging out in front of the TV, and the upper one is adapted for an intimate, romantic atmosphere.

Thus, ACME’s unusual residential buildings are original towering housing in which tradition and fashionable, trendy solutions are closely intertwined. The architects managed to make the object stylish and interesting almost without compromising the functionality and practicality of the space.

UNUSUAL SHAPE HOUSES – 450 M² OF TRANSFORMATION OF GEOMETRIC SHAPES INTO A COMFORTABLE LIVING SPACE

The original, comfortable and cozy building, which fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape, is a house of unusual shape. This building complex, located in the tourist Vietnamese province of Kam Thanh, is the embodiment of the dream of any architect.

Innovative design solutions are drawn from the natural background, rich in unique flora and fauna, and the cultural heritage of previous generations, which gave impetus to the development of modern architectural forms. The spatial design of the building repeats the geometric configuration of the ancient dwellings of local residents.

The pointed triangular arches made of concrete beams, the irregular geometric shapes of the house not only repeat the local flavor, but also create a feeling of cosmic elevation and unusual grace of the room. The irregular shape of the pool fits well into the overall ensemble. The round windows in the shape of a spaceship’s portholes add mystery and mystery to this unusual building.

The owners of the house are hospitable hosts. And their main wish was to create a cottage that will leave a lasting impression on guests with its novelty, and will be a real breakthrough in construction and architecture. And the authors of the project succeeded. The successful location of the building in the area among ponds and green spaces favorably emphasizes all its features and uniqueness.

The coconut palm, which is the hallmark of the region, has become the starting point in the structural design of the house. Inclined beams and support columns at a slope create at the same time a visual impression of an innovative and familiar space. Because they copy the gentle trunks of palm trees.

The spatial layout of the interior repeats the geometric oblique lines of the facade, which creates a unity of interior and exterior. To divide a long house into three short blocks, small internal gardens are used, as in ancient houses. This not only creates a natural and natural backdrop, but also increases the lighting and ventilation of all rooms.

Designer’s tip. Unusual facades should be repeated in the original interior rooms. Non-standard window openings, unusual-shaped furniture and disproportionate doorways are just some of the design decisions that allow you to give the interior of the house an unusual form of the same creative sound.

UNUSUAL CONCRETE HOUSE DESIGN – 313 M² PANORAMIC DESIGN BY THE RIVER

Modern technologies of monolithic concrete construction allow me to implement the most unusual projects and design ideas of architects. the whimsical forms of the house are limited only by the imagination of the customer or architect.

Unusual Concrete House Design | 313 m² Panoramic design by the river

In addition to the outstanding shape of the structure, concrete allows you to immediately give the necessary texture to the walls of the house when pouring. An elongated, horizontal design concentrates all attention on the main point – the bend of the river. A swimming pool with a huge outdoor terrace organically complement the stunning picture. In addition to the unusual shape of the house and the material of the walls, there is another unique design detail – sliding wooden shutters on the balcony of the second floor. Wonderful accent of wood on concrete background.

VERY UNUSUAL HOUSE OF A JAPANESE ARTIST – EXTRAORDINARY LOOK AT ARCHITECTURE AND RATIONALITY

The DOG architectural bureau presented a very unusual deltoid house. It is located on Tokaido Street in the town of Ninomiya in Japan. The building is so unusual that it reflects the originality of the modern essence of the Japanese. At the same time, the traditional European motifs are clearly visible in the interior design and laconicism of the facade. Thus, the architecture shows a symbiosis of completely dissimilar cultures.

Against the backdrop of local development, the house was too extravagant, attracting attention as if it were an exhibit. But not only the shape of the building has become its striking feature – to verify this, just go inside.

Very unusual house

Compactness is an integral characteristic of modern Japanese housing. Not without it, and in this project. This is a very unusual house in the context of the use of living space – only 123 square meters fit not only an apartment for the artist’s family, but also a compact exhibition pavilion – it is presented in the form of a hall in which the author displays his works.

Very unusual house

The entrance to the building is made from the street, so that those who wish to see the paintings can conveniently visit the hall – an unusual solution for a European, given that this is a family house. Living rooms are localized from this space using the exhibition wall.

Very unusual house

The gallery, with its compactness, is distinguished by visual openness due to the large amount of light, high ceilings, a light palette and, albeit small, but panoramic glazing at the entrance. The exhibition area is visually separated from the living space, which is located on the podium.

Very unusual house

Given the decency and punctuality of the Japanese, it is clear here – visitors will not encroach on going beyond the exhibition hall – private space remains cut off for guests. The living area is made quite comfortable due to a comfortable, homely environment, the use of a warm, pastel palette.

Very unusual house

An unusual space is created by the intersection of a sloping roof, replacing a wall on one side, and a diagonal exhibition partition – an amazing play of space from low to high and from wide to narrow. This model promotes creative thinking – at first it seems that the project is not suitable for everyday life, but in practice the opposite has been proved.

Very unusual house

The space of a very unusual house is beaten as if it consists of three separate elements – an exhibition gallery, a private living area at the bottom and a kitchen-living room at the top. Together, all three figures form a self-contained object, which, when compact, strikes with functionality. Given the lifestyle of the Japanese, it can be argued that this building is quite spacious for the family.

Very unusual house

This is really a very unusual house both in terms of architecture and space use. The Japanese artist turned the living space into a studio open to visitors, ensuring the privacy of housing for the family. And all this takes a little more than 100 squares.

WHAT COULD BE AN UNUSUAL HOME DESIGN? EVALUATING KOMOREBI’S PLANS AND PROJECT IN CHILE

The Komorebi project is not a standard type of housing, which differs in all its components: location, design, layout. The first problem for architects was an inconvenient bias in which professionals saw the invaluable potential for organizing the construction. The second issue was the use of dense wood, which turned into an unusual design of the house.

Every lack of space has become its dignity. On a small plot, a house grew up, where each element attracts attention.

To align the slope for a full-fledged building, the architects decided to use a concrete base parallel to the slope. The high level of the foundation made it possible to build a compact ground floor, and the concrete coating from the outside of the terrace smoothly passes into the interior.

Local vegetation and “wild nature” marked the shape of the building. The central section moves deeper into the forest, creating the effect of a “triangular house.” The front door, as if embedded in the wall of the facade, which enhances the visual perception of the exterior.

The black steel structure seems rough and tough. Soften its appearance of the window on the entire wall of the first and second floor. The long facade of monochrome style is played by wooden doors and a bright interior, reflected through the windows. The inner part is completely opposite to the external: white walls alternate with wooden cladding, a pleasant shade of furniture and decor.

Located around a green forest, the house provided designers with the opportunity to experiment with flowers. Each corner changes in many shades depending on the location of the sun. Sunset shades the corridors with leaves, filling the steel zone with clear light. Thus, one design looks different, in which its unusualness is manifested.

It is impossible to predict how the wood will look on the walls, whether it will be in a dark shade or play with bright rays. To enhance these effects, designers deliberately used a natural finish. This was the only way to convey the naturalness of the coating texture and its inimitable appearance.

An unusual house Komorebi makes its shape, color, a combination of materials and location. Rough steel profiles turn into a delicate palette of interior colors. Owners could refuse such a plot on which it is almost impossible to build comfortable housing.

But, agreeing to the experiment, they got a lot of advantages:

  • Functional distribution of floors for specific areas;
  • Proximity to nature;
  • Solitude from others.

Creative-minded people cannot deny themselves the pleasure of surrounding themselves with originality and escape from everyday life. And in this the unusual helper of the house in which each part has its own life will become the best assistant. Internal minimalism and an external urban style played a major role in the design of the Chilean project.
